During lunch break, the school debate trophy disappeared from the locked display cabinet.

Only three students had access to the room:

  • Ayaan – was practicing a speech nearby

  • Bella – was decorating the notice board

  • Chris – was cleaning the cabinet glass

When asked, they said:

  • Ayaan: “I never touched the cabinet.”

  • Bella: “I didn’t hear or see anything strange.”

  • Chris: “I cleaned the glass, but the cabinet was locked the whole time.”

There were no signs of forced entry, and the cabinet was still locked after the trophy went missing.

Solution:
Chris took the trophy. Chris said he cleaned the inside glass, but the cabinet was locked the whole time.You can only clean the inside if the cabinet was opened. That means Chris had access and took the trophy before locking it again.
